4 Ways to Clean Your KitchenAid Stand Mixer

It sounds easy, right? Just wipe it down and you’re good.

Wrong.

A KitchenAid Stand Mixer works hard for you no matter what it’s mixing, and it can take quite the beating in the process. Dust, flour, grease, oil, and all kinds of cooking ingredients easily get inside the stand mixer’s vents and gears, making it rather hard to clean. Luckily it only takes a few simple cleaning ingredients and very little equipment to get the job done. Take the following advice in order to keep your KitchenAid Stand Mixer in tip-top shape!

1. Unplug and Detach

Before jumping in and cleaning your stand mixer appliance, you’ll first want to unplug it and detach any attachments. Soak them in the sink with soap and hot water while you clean the other parts.

2. Mixing Bowl Bath

Add your mixing bowl to the sink where all the attachments are soaking. Wash well with soap and hot water to ensure all the bacteria is removed. Once done, lay everything out on a dry wash cloth to let air dry. If you like to show off your KitchenAid Stand Mixer by leaving it on your countertop, add a few drops of olive oil to a wash cloth, and rub all over the mixing bowl. This will help give the stainless steel a shine. If you happen to have a glass bowl, just put in place after drying.

3. Wipe Away All Food Residue

Be sure to wipe down the details of the KitchenAid appliance such as its knobs, levers, and other hard to reach places. With a toothbrush, water, and a little baking soda, you can scrub away any splatters with ease. Wash off with water.

4. Toothpick Assistance

Because the ventilation shaft is likely to get dust and crumb buildup, use a toothpick to gently sweep the mess out. If it’s not working too well, a vacuum may work as well.

A KitchenAid Stand Mixer is the perfect luxury appliance for the avid baker. Keep it in pristine condition, and it will be good to you for quite some time! If you don’t have one of these kitchen appliances, look for one at your local appliance store where there are always great discounts and sales happening!
